The paper provides an analysis of Bulgarian botanical names in the ethno-cultural light. We explore the semantics of the plant names in terms of folk perceptions, beliefs and customs. It is proved that ethno-lingual features of the Bulgarian flora names point to their relations with other ethno-cultural objects, conceptions and phenomena. We pay a particular attention to plant names with mythological and religious semantics (Christian and pagan), including those mentioned in folklore texts. The paper emphasizes the necessity of complex studying Bulgarian flora names relative to the ethno-cultural heritage.Downloads
