“Image”, “Symbol”, “Image-Symbol” and Their Correlation in Modern Linguistic Paradigm (Based on the Writings by Frank Peretti)

The paper deals with the interpretation of the terms “image”, “symbol” and “imagesymbol”. The focus is made on the correlation of these terms. The research concludes that the image thinking provides a basis for the lingual image-symbols. It was established that the lingual image-symbols are caused by the usage of different stylistic devices. The analysis determined that the lingual image-symbols can be found in writings of modern American authors and they have to be defined correctly for a sense bearing interpretation of the literary text.Downloads
