Axiological Dynamics in the Description of Natural Disasters in English Biblical Discourse
Keywords:
axiological dynamics, biblical discourse, Genesis, ExodusAbstract
This article examines manifestations of axiological dynamics in the description of natural disasters in Genesis and Exodus. The phenomenon of axiological dynamics is actualized in these texts implicitly, through evaluating the people's deeds and their relationship with the Lord against the background of natural disasters, being determined by the axiological hierarchy of values. Biblical values presented in these texts through semantic oppositions of words with polar evaluation highlight the value constituents of the concepts RIGHTEOUSNESS and RIGHTEOUSLIFE.
