The article analyses the functional parameters of the means expressing credibility in Modern English. The special accent is laid upon the predicative complexes with the verbs of speaking. It was proved that the hearer determines the degree of credibility of the speaker’s message, proceeding from its meaning and the source of the transmitted information. The research singles out the pragmatic loading of different tense, aspect and voice forms of verbs of speaking within the investigated predicative units. Nevertheless, there investigated structural variants of predicative complexes with the verbs of speaking, indicating the source of information and the degree of its credibility and impartiality.
