Abstract

The article describes the linguistic and extra-linguistic means of creating wife images in American folk songs. Their functions are analyzed. In this respect, the means of stylistic semasiology, stylistic syntax and stylistic phonetics that help optimally create images of the wife are defined. The research results prove that these stylistic means when accompanied by music and enriched with important cultural and historical issues add balance to wife images in American folk songs. Wife images are grouped accordingly and aspects of creating them in traditional and author songs are presented in detail.
