Abstract

The paper is devoted to the interpretation of invective in terms of speech act theory. The primary illocution of invective, namely emotional, is defined, as well as secondary invective illocution acts, such as expressing orders, threats, questions and so on were revealed. The context of communication as a leading factor of invective speech act use is analyzed.
